Trent Young.

Photographer behind YNG Archive — live music, events, portraits and creative work across Ballarat, Melbourne and regional Victoria.

The first time I got interested in cameras was around 9 years old. I'd borrow the family Kodak point and shoot and use it to make stop-motion videos with Lego and clay. From then on, I was pretty much hooked.

In 2013, while studying film and VFX, I got my first DSLR. Around the same time I was living in Melbourne and started getting into street photography as something to do in my spare time. I'd spend hours wandering around the city taking photos of whatever caught my eye.

For the next 10 years, photography was just something I enjoyed doing. It became a creative outlet, an excuse to explore new places, and a way to slow down and notice things I probably would've walked straight past otherwise.

In 2025 YNG Archive was started, these days I photograph people, live music, events and creative projects with a focus on atmosphere, honest moments and images that feel lived rather than overly polished.

Based in Ballarat and available across Melbourne and regional Victoria. If you've got a project in mind, send me a message and tell me a bit about it. I'll get back to you with my thoughts and what I can offer.
